Helichryzi

(Helichrysum arenarium, fam. Compositae)

This is perennial cabbage-like plant with grayish color, unbranched pedicel, long leaves and several yellow flowers at the top.

It blooms in summer, and flower bulbs are used when flowers begin to open.

It contains flavonoid heterosides, tannins, resins, bitter substances and essential oils.

Helichryzi is favourite folk herb widely used as remedy for treatment of gall-bladder disease, expulsion of stones from gall-bladder and biliary canals and overall improvement of this organ and urinary organs’ function.

Tea should be prepared at night by steeping 3 spoonfuls of dried helichryzi flowers in 750 ml brewed water. Cover the dish and leave it through the night. Consume one cup before every meal the next day.
